Former Cleveland Cavalier and Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving came under fire recently for comments made about one-time teammate, LeBron James. In an attempt to compliment Kevin Durant, his new running mate, Kyrie inadvertently seemed to speak poorly on LeBron’s closing ability:
“One thing I’ve always been comfortable with, I felt like I was the best option on every team I played for down the stretch,” Irving said on Durant’s new podcast, “The Etcs,” per ESPN. “This is the first time in my career I’ve looked down and be like, ‘That motherf—er can make that shot too.
Kevin Durant is not the only superstar that Kyrie has shared the court with before. Despite LeBron’s dominance alongside Irving, it would seem that Kyrie might have forgotten the help he received in his quest for his first championship. Another former Cavalier, Iman Shumpert, did not see this quote as a shot at LeBron via Complex Sports:
“People are going to forever think they’re (Kyrie and LeBron) taking shots at each other… it’s sad.”
While Shumpert provides an opposing view, there is still some doubt on whether or not Kyrie truly respects his old teammate. Members of the SportsCastr News NBA team, Adam Armbrecht and Keitch McPherson, discussed this quote and more on their SportsCastr stream.
LeBron and Kyrie weren’t the only topics of debate on the show. The SportsCastr News NBA guys also gave their thoughts on recent Derrick Rose rumors and whether or not the Los Angeles Clippers can finally make a Finals appearance after a disappointing 2020 season.
The NBA is a league run by top duos across the league. Paul George & Kawhi Leonard and Kyrie Irving & LeBron James have both had different amounts of success in the NBA. The SportsCastr News team is still unsure whether Kyrie & KD will be a championship duo or one who crumbles from the immense preseason pressure.Tags: Iman Shumpert, KD, Kevin Durant, Kyrie, Kyrie Irving, Lakers, LeBron, LeBron James, NBA, Nets, Paul George, PG13, SCN, SCNNBA, SportsCastr, Warriors Last modified: October 19, 2020
