Heat fans, you can breathe. In a sure NBA classic for years to come, the Miami Heat outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 111-108. This one was back and forth, even though the Heat led for most of this game. But, don’t let that mislead you. Their biggest lead was 8.
He’s on Fire!
Jimmy Butler shined in this one, pouring in 35 points. Also, he dished out 11 assists, and snatched 12 rebounds for his team. Butler scored 8 of his teams last 10 points. Butler is regarded as a clutch player, and he was able to prove that yet again. Him and Lebron went back and forth down the stretch, each one upping each other on their offensive possession. It was an old fashioned duel, and boy was it fun to watch.
Last night, late in the fourth quarter, Anthony Davis reaggravated a heel contusion. As he went up for the rebound, he came down awkwardly on his right heel. As a result, he was limping down the court every possession. He was in obvious discomfort. Luckily, he seems to be ok. He says, I’ll be fine on Sunday”. Lakers fans sure hope so.
At the end of this one, it quickly turned into a one on one battle between LeBron James and Jimmy Butler when the clock hit around five minutes remaining. Both going back and forth. LeBron making circus layups and Jimmy killing the Lakers with mid range jumpers. With inside a Minute left, Jimmy Butler drove to the hoop and got fouled. He was visibly exhausted. He proceeded to hang his head over the advertisement board on the baseline. Finally, he labored his way to the free throw line and sunk two free throws.
Then, it was Lebron’s turn. he drove down the lane and missed the layup, but AD fought for the second chance points off the rebound to put the Heat up by one. Then, Jimmy Butler drove down the lane after the Heat timeout and was fouled by Davis. Butler made both at the line. Lakers called a timeout. With 16 seconds remaining, they had a chance to win the NBA finals with make.
LeBron received the inbound, waited a bit, then drove down the right side lane. He was triple teamed on the drive. So, he kicked it out to a wide open Danny Green. Then, Danny Green, with the game on the line, misses a wide open three. The Lakers got the rebound, and Markieff Morris panicked, and threw it to AD, who could not reach the errant pass. So, the Lakers end the game absolutely botching the final five seconds. It was one heck of a game, with one heck of a finish!
Game 6 of the NBA Finals will be on Sunday Night at 7:30 PM EST. The Heat trail the series 3-2, and are looking to force a deciding game 7, which would be on Tuesday night.
