As the NFL season surpasses the halfway mark, many teams will start to look ahead to their plans for next season. Teams like the New York Jets and the New York Giants are trying to figure out if they can get Clemson QB, Trevor Lawrence. Other teams without a top pick will instead turn towards a trade or free agency to find a new signal-caller.
SportsCastr News NFL’s Lawrence Owen looked ahead to 2021 to see which quarterbacks might be on the move. Lawrence first discusses Jacoby Brissett of the Indianapolis Colts. On his SportsCastr stream, Lawrence points out that Brissett doesn’t turn the ball over and has played under successful quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Andrew Luck.
San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is another name cited by Lawrence. Injury issues and poor play has plagued the recent tenure of Jimmy G. It doesn’t help that Garoppolo’s backup, Nick Mullens, has performed well in brief appearances subbing in for the former Patriot.
The most surprising name that Lawrence brings up on his SportsCastr stream is Aaron Rodgers. It is unclear what the Green Bay Packers intend to do at the QB position after drafting Jordan Love from Nevada in the 2020 draft. Like Brett Favre before him, Rodgers may have to continue his career on a new team.
It has become clear for a long time that a top quarterback can catapult any NFL team into relevancy. Heading into the 2021 season, all NFL teams will be looking out for their own Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson. The SportsCastr news NFL team will be closely following the NFL free agency and trade market.
