The San Francisco 49ers have had a stressful week leading up to last night’s contest with the Green Bay Packers. With the loss of George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo, the team must find offense in new ways. Nick Mullens and Jerick McKinnon were unable to get going as the Packers won 34-17 in San Francisco.
SportsCastr News NFL’s Lawrence Owen and Ray Rauth both expected Aaron Rodgers to have a stellar performance. Their expectations were proven right as Rodgers threw for 305 yards and added four touchdowns, completing 25 of his 31 passes. The Green Bay QB firmly established himself as one of the front-runners in the MVP race.
Packers’ WR Davante Adams was talked about in the SportsCastr stream as one player expected to have a big performance. Adams continued his hot play of late, catching ten passes for 173 yards and one touchdown. With six touchdowns in the last three games, Adams is on pace for another Pro Bowl season.
While the Niners struggled to put up points, speedster WR Richie James had a breakout performance. James was the only San Francisco receiver with over 100 yards: he finished with nine catches for 184 yards and a touchdown. For a team that has struggled to find a consistent receiver, perhaps James can be a solid target after Kittle’s injury.
After disappointing losses the past two weeks, the Green Bay Packers made a statement with their dominant win. On the other hand, the Niners must regroup without their two best offensive players. The SportsCastr News NFL team will stay up to date on the top NFL stories of Week 9.
