Top Defenses to Face Off in Indianapolis

Lamar Jackson

Two of the top defenses in the NFL meet in Week 9 when the Ravens travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. Both teams are at the top of the league in total points allowed and yards allowed. The Ravens hold the title of being the most blitz-happy team in the NFL as well.

SportsCastr News NFL’s Joe Noobo and Lawrence Owen gave their preview for what is sure to be an intense game. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense has faltered in recent weeks, especially during last week’s loss to the Steelers. SportsCastr’s Joe Noobo thinks the Ravens D will need either a defensive touchdown, or key turnovers to help out the offense.

On the other side, Lawrence Owen expects the Colts to experiment offensively to try and break down the Baltimore D. In the SportsCastr stream, Lawrence considers using more tight ends in the offense and increasing the rate of usage for each running back. Even with new play-calling and personnel changes, Philip Rivers and the Colts offense will have many challenges on Sunday.

One possible key factor for Baltimore could be the debut of Dez Bryant. While it is unclear if the former Cowboy receiver will see the field, he is active and will dress for the game. The big-bodied wideout could help the team’s dreadful passing game.

After a heart-breaking loss to the Steelers, the Ravens are in need of a win to stay near the top of the AFC. In a deadlock with the Tennessee Titans, the Colts are looking to stay within the division lead. The SportsCastr News NFL team will have all the coverage leading up to this heavyweight contest.
