Following a heartbreaking loss to the Bills in Week 8, the New England Patriots entered Week 9 in desperate need of a win. On the other hand, the New York Jets were in a precarious position: sitting at 0-8, a win could jeopardize their chances of landing Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. In a game where the Patriots were 10-point favorites, the expectation was that the Jets would rollover by the end of the first quarter.
SportsCastr News NFL’s Joe Noobo, Lawrence Owen, and Ray Rauth viewed this as a very important game for both teams. For the Jets, they would be facing a battered team with a poor rush defense, giving them a chance at the win. Facing one of the worst pass defenses in the league, this game also served as an opportunity for Cam Newton to pick apart the Jets.
After trailing by ten at halftime, the Patriots scored 20 second-half points to win on a last-second Nick Folk field goal. On his SportsCastr stream, Lawrence Owen discussed some of the key players in the Patriots win. With 12 catches for 169 yards, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers was an instrumental piece of the Patriots injured offense.
Both Ray Rauth and Lawrence Owen thought that Patriots cornerback JC Jackson was due for a big game. After giving up two touchdowns to Breshad Perriman, it seemed that Jackson would be the sole reason for New England’s loss. When all hope seemed to be lost, a Jackson 4th quarter interception ignited the Patriots offense and redeemed his earlier poor play.
Although it wasn’t expected to be a close contest, the MNF match-up capped off an exciting week of football. The SportsCastr News team covered some of the top games in their weekend streams. Week 10 will kick off on Thursday when Lawrence Owen’s Colts take on the division leading Tennessee Titans.Tags: Bills, Breshad Perriman, Buffalo Bills, Cam, Cam Newton, Clemson, Colts, Indianapolis Colts, Jakobi Meyers, JC Jackson, Jets, New England Patriots, New York Jets, NFL, Nick Folk, Patriots, Perriman, SCN, SCN NFL, SportsCastr, SportsCastr News, Tennessee Titans, Titans, Trevor Lawrence Last modified: November 10, 2020
