Golden State Warriors Stand to Gain from New CBA

Earlier today, the NBA announced changes to their Collective Bargaining Agreement. While the salary tax and luxury tax will remain the same as last season, there will be an overall reduction in the luxury tax bill for most teams. On their SportsCastr stream, Adam Armbrecht and Matt Brooks gave their reasoning for why this will be a massive help to the Golden State Warriors.

The cash-strapped Warriors are hoping to make their way back to the playoffs in 2021. With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green’s contracts, there is not much wiggle room for the former champions to sign extra help. With the reduction in the tax bill, the Warriors may be able to bring in a veteran player to help replace Andre Iguodala.

SportsCastr News NBA’s Adam Armbecht and Matt Brooks discussed a plethora of names that could be of help to Golden State. Matt brought up Bulls forward Thaddeus Young. With the Warriors eyeing James Wiseman in the draft, it is clear the team could use a big man like Young to bolster their frontcourt.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. was another name mentioned on the SportsCastr stream. While Nance only stands 6’7, his length and mobility have allowed him to be a crucial piece in pick & roll offenses for the Cavaliers and the Lakers.

Nance and Young could both provide help to the big 3 in Golden State. In a crowded Western Conference, it remains to be seen whether the Warriors can challenge top teams like the Lakers and the Nuggets. The next few months will be quite telling to see where the Warriors will end up in 2021.
