Heading into Thursday Night Football, the NFC West was in a three-way tie for first place. The Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks all sat with 6-3 record going into Week 11. After dominating the the first half of this season, the Seahawks have slowly began to falter, allowing for Arizona and LA to gain ground in the standings.
SportsCastr News NFL’s Adam Armbrecht, Lawrence Owen, and Ray Rauth expected the Cardinals to maintain their offensive momentum versus Seattle’s weak defense on Thursday. After tearing opponents up on the ground all season, Kyler Murray finished with 15 rushing yards in the 28-21 loss. Running back Kenyan Drake wasn’t much help either, only gaining 29 yards on the ground.
While it wasn’t an MVP performance for Russell Wilson, the quarterback’s 82% completion percentage and two touchdowns through the air was a welcome return to form after recent down weeks. 165 yards on the ground from Seattle’s QB and three running backs gave the team the time of possession lead in a back and forth game. As pointed out on the SportsCastr postgame stream, the true hero of the game was defensive end, Carlos Dunlap.
Dunlap’s fourth-down sack with less than a minute left on the clock sealed the deal for Seattle. In a season where the defense has been criticized by the media throughout the year, it was only fitting that the unit would find a way to step up in the biggest of moments. Perhaps a healthy Jamal Adams can also aid in Seattle’s quest for the NFC Championship.
The NFC West has been a frequently discussed topic on SportsCastr News streams throughout the year. Not even a top-three team in the division, the San Francisco 49ers are also making a push to the top of the standings in recent weeks. While the Seahawks have taken the lead, there is no doubt we will see continued drama in the NFC West.Tags: 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Cardinals, Carlos Dunlap, Jamal Adams, Kenyan Drake, Kyler, Kyler Murray, Los Angeles Rams, NFC West, NFL, Niners, Rams, Russell Wilson, San Francisco 49ers, SCN, SCN NFL, Seahawks, Seattle Seahawks, SportsCastr, SportsCastr News, Thursday Night Football, Week 11 Last modified: November 20, 2020
